Images Speak Words - My Grandma Araceli
by Eileen
May 2007

My grandma was born on April 10, 1956 in Acapulco, Mexico. She was the first and the oldest child. As a child, she enjoyed playing games like hopscotch.

Her family is from Iguala Guerrero but her mother was born in Chilpandingo, Mexico. After living in Mexico for awhile, my grandma decided to move to San Francisco because she couldn't find work where she lived.

One of my grandma's favorite family pictures was taken with her grandma and grandpa on the beach. She was only 12 years old. My grandma says that one of the special things about our family is that we love each other very much. Growing up, my grandma had a favorite auntie. She always used to play with her younger brother, even though sometimes they would fight.

The special person in my grandma's life is her grandma. She taught her moral values.

When my grandma was little, her dream was to become a doctor because she likes to help people.

Now she has three sons. The oldest son is serious. The second son is happy. The last one is mad and sometimes happy and sometimes mad. They all work and work and work. She loves them so much. And I love her too.
