An activist and educator, Shayla Lawson has showcased
work throughout her Kentucky homeland since the age of
thirteen. Now twenty-three, she continues seeking opportunities
to reach art-minded individuals through the beauty and
integrity of her African-American heritage. She performs
with the Affrilachian Poets, a diverse cooperative of
southern writers. The poem Yovo Pieds? appeared in a 2003
edition of Limestone Magazine for the University of Kentucky
