This story was told to me by my father Dr. C.B. Hauser
about his challenge of the Jim Crow Laws a full 9 years
before the Rosa Parks incident that sparked the modern
Civil Rights Movement. My father, Dr. Charlie Brady Hauser,
was born October 13, 1917, in Yadkinville, NC, the 3rd
child of 13. He earned a B. S from Winston-Salem State,
and an M.S. and Ed D from the University of Pennsylvania.
He was a principal and professor at West Virginia State
College, Allen University and at Winston-Salem State.
As a staff sergeant in the W.W.II he won A Good Conduct
Medal and an ETO Ribbon with 5 Battle Stars. He was arrested
and awarded a $2,000 settlement when he challenged the
North Carolina Jim Crow Laws in 1947.
